[edit] Notes

  • The core miniseries was designed to stand alone; reading other issues in the event is purely optional.
  • Almost all stories take place outside of the core miniseries and do not interact with the main story at all.
  • Spider-Man: House of M #1-5 is not listed in the reading order tdue to glaring contradictions. See below for more details.

[edit] Story Locations

One reason many of the stories don't interact with the main story is that each series takes place in a different area.

Book Location
Black Panther Africa
Cable & Deadpool Nebraska
Captain America New York City
Exiles New York City
Fantastic Four: HoM Latveria & Genosha
House of M Genosha & New York City
Incredible Hulk Australia
Iron Man: HoM Chicago
Mutopia X New York City
New Thunderbolts Colorado
New X-Men: Academy X New York City & Tokyo
Spider-Man: HoM New York City
The Pulse New York City
Uncanny X-Men Otherworld & England

[edit] Spoilers

Explaination for issue placement and contradictory storylines. The House of M universe, once established, only lasts for about 48 hours. When coming up with a reading order I looked at the ackground panels to figure out what time of day it was to figure proper placement of issues. By doing this several problems in many stories came to light.

[edit] Placement Problems

  • Incredible Hulk - It's already been established and stated in Uncanny X-Men 462 that they had 48 hours to fix what was broken. The story arc for Incredible Hulk takes place over the course of several weeks, not days.
  • Mutopia X - At the begining of Mutopia X the House of M universe hasn't been created but s created midway through. In issue #4 the world is returned back to normal. Problem is, the story in Mutopia covers five full days and not two.
  • The Pulse / Exiles - At the end of the Pulse Hawkeye destroys a huge statue at night in Central Park New York City just before he heads off to Genosha. In Exiles 71 near the end, several members are teleported at night to Central Park and stand infront of the statue completely intact. Shortly after, the world is returned to normal. There's no way Hawkeye made it to Genosha in such a short amount of time.

[edit] Issue Exclusions

  • Spider-Man: House of M - A five issue mini dealing with the fall of Spider-Man in the House of M universe. The story arc for this mini takes place over many days. The main problem is that by the end of the story the House of M universe is still intact and Spider-Man is no longer a movie star which he still is in all of the House of M issues.
